On 25thMarch 2017, Jiang Jun, General Manager of First Automobile-Toyota Motor Sales Co., Ltd.(FTMS) and media elites from the automotive field gathered in Boao for the Crown Night Talk to discuss FTMS’s innovation and the future development of the Crown brand in the new economic environment and market landscape. The summit also covered topics of environmental protection, energy conservation and new energy vehicles. Apart from the current efforts on market development and expansion of fuel-efficient vehicles (represented by Carolla Hybrid), FTMS will also introduce a series of new energy car models including plug-in hybrid and pure electric vehicles. In 2018, with the introduction of the brand new TNGA, significant progress will be seen in fuel limit emission, cost and product line. In 2016, the overall growth of China’s luxury car market slowed down, while competition was getting increasingly fierce. The consumer group tends to be younger with 47% consumers are those below the age of 35. The Crown products, with their full evolution, are positioned to be younger, which aligned them perfect to the luxury car market that guaranteed a good sales performance. In 2016, 35,000 new Crown cars were sold, an increase of 168%, which significantly exceeded the growth rate (25%) of this market segment.
