The scorching sun cannot resist the cool late summer in the mind of Hu Yuanjing. August 22 is a day she has been longing for a long time, “Guardian of Spine of the World—FAW Toyota Snow Leopard Guard Action” set sail in her school—Yingjie Exchange Center of Peking University. Graduated from School of Journalism and Communication of Peking University, now having further study of public relations in New York University, Hu Yuanjing has been willing to participate in various commonweal activities during the university. The Snow Leopard Guard Action is an important reason for Hu Yuanjing to return to her school. She, as an environmental protection volunteer, will join a journey of rescuing snow leopartd and its survival environment.
Besides the college student volunteer full of passion as Hu Yuanjing, the donator of this scientific research environmental protection project—FAW Toyota Motor Sales Co., Ltd. general manager Tian Qingjiu, project joint sponsor representative—China Green Foundation deputy chairman and secretary general Chen Peng, experts and scholars from Peking University Landscape Natural Conversation Center and media, etc. also attend the launch ceremony of the event. An environmental commonweal journey full of love and responsibility starts in the campus of Peking University at the beginning of the autumn.
Protect the homeland of snow leopard, guard the same blue sky
The place where Hu Yuanjing are longing for is Butuo Lake National Wetland Park in the north of Dingqing County, it is the distribution center of snow leopard in China, and also the largest continuous snow leopard habitat. However, in recent years, the range of human activity expands recklessly, which makes the snow leopard habitat in Dingqing County fragment, global warning threatens the local natural environment. At present, it is learned that there are 4500~7000 snow leopards in the whole world, and only 2500 can effectively breed. Snow leopard, as the guardian of the spine of the world, is not only the first-grade state protected animal in imminent danger, but also the living index that reflects local ecological environment, the dangerous status of snow leopard also directly reflects the unpromising living situation of other endangered species.
Human coexists with these endangered species, their living environment is closely related to our living environment, once the living environment of endangered species is threatened, it will also objectively lead to the deterioration of our living environment. To prevent and even eliminate such situation, protecting our common home, practicing the development idea of low carbon and environmental protection, strengthening ecological protection are the significant subject to solve currently, and this is also the main reason why Hu Yuanjing joins this event after breaking through the tests of ecological protection innovation competition in early period of the recruitment. 2018 FAW Toyota Snow Leopard Guard Action will start from scientific research, ecological restoration, community development and natural experience, protect homeland of snow leopard through basic research and local protection action, guard the same blue sky, and increase more hopes and possibilities for the harmonious coexistence between human and nature. Young volunteers like Hu Yuanjing will be the think tank and vigor of this snow leopard guard action.
Hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, become the pioneer of environmental protection education
2018 FAW Toyota Snow Leopard Guard Action will effectively implement ecological recovery, surrounding community construction, scientific monitoring and natural publicity in Dingqing County through the donation in China Green Foundation scientific research project under the cooperation of experts and volunteers. The implementation of this scientific research environmental protection project will not only being meaningful to the research and protection of snow leopard, but also will bring with beneficial change to Qinghai-Tibet Plateau
On the event day, Zhao Xiang, the snow leopard guardian from Peking University Landscape Natural Conservation Center, introduce the environmental protection commonweal journal, later, secretary general Chen Peng of China Green Foundation and General Manager Tian Qingjiu of FAW Toyota shared their experience in environmental protection and this event with the guests. In the awarding ceremony, General Manager Tian Qingjiu and secretary general Chen Peng personally awarded project donation plate to Ren Zhici, the deputy chief of Dingqing County Cruising Office, and awarded honor certificate to 9 students with excellent performance in the environmental protection innovation competition including Hu Yuanjing. Hada presented by enthusiastic local representatives, the powerful speech given by the students pushed the atmosphere to the climax. Later, a professional open class made everybody deep understand the importance of protecting snow leopard and endangered species. In the interaction, the environmental protection experts and students had excellent discussion and provided powerful guarantee to the success of this commonweal project. At last, in the warm and harmonious atmosphere, the launch ceremony came to the end. In Hu Yuanjing’s words, returning to her school and contacting such a meaningful commonweal event will be a very experience in her life.
To FAW Toyota, actively promoting this college ecological commonweal practice project will not only be conductive to strength the awareness of young students to understand and protect Chinese ecological environment, but also will improve their commonweal practicing ability. “FAW Toyota will make environmental protection enter the life of young people through ‘teaching a man to fish is better than to give him fish’, make more young people personally participate in the environmental protection construction”, General Manager Tian Qingjiu believes that the influence on the level of environmental protection education to give full play to the strength of young students in personal practice will be profound.

Produce “good” vehicle diligently, advocate positive energy of environmental protection
Vehicle plays a more and more important role in our daily life and work. Auto enterprise should provide product that can better meet environmental protection requirement while bearing environmental protection responsibility. As an auto sales company, besides bearing relevant social responsibility, FAW Toyota should also starts with the foundation, and produce “good” vehicle diligently. In the interview, General Manager Tian Qingjiu introduces that: “energy saving and emission reduction, low carbon and environmental protection have become the development direction of auto industry in the future, while FAW Toyota has taken the lead in introducing the world popular hybrid electric model in 2006, and has been committed to promoting environmental protection model.” Therefore, in the future, FAW Toyota will introduce several PHEV/EV models, accelerate new energy development. Not only environmental production, participating in more social environmental protection projects has become the important development strategy of auto enterprise that takes environmental protection responsibility as own mission as FAW Toyota does.
It is learned that Toyota develops strategy of “Toyota environment challenge 2050”, and launches a series of commonweal activities on this basis. This strategy aims to “make the negative influence of automobile unlimitedly close to zero” and “bring positive energy to the society”, while FAW Toyota will follow this strategy on the basis of improving own commonweal structure, constantly innovate project, create continuous labeled environmental protection commonweal activity, cooperate with Toyota China (full name: Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd.) to contribute to the commonweal environmental protection cause of Toyota brand in China. General Manager Tian Qingjiu also expresses that FAW Toyota will cooperate with China Green Foundation and other environmental protection organization to realize more cooperation, open more meaningful environmental protection projects, make more far-signed men to join the commonweal environmental protection team of FAW Toyota, and contribute to Chinese environmental protection.
Environmental protection has no small matter, every move is concerned.
